Art Performance “Ready for the trip" by Virginie Sommet

You are invited to the Art Performance “Ready for the trip" by Virginie Sommet

at Dekatur Club,

Saturday November 9 at 7pm ($5 Donation).

Virginie Sommet is an artist who has been active in the New York art scene for a number of years.

Ms. Sommet creates found object sculptures that incorporate toys, tableware, bindis, toilet seat, flyers and diaries and others…

These assemblages reflect her familiarity with a wide range of immigrant groups and social subcultures that she hopes to bring to the attention -- and eventual understanding -- of mainstream viewers.

Virginie Sommet's sculpture installations tackle extremely difficult topics in order to examine the sexual and societal constraints that separate individuals of different gender and of different urban subcultures.

Ms.Sommet's particular, fresh vision, employs the Neo conceptual object to great effect. Her deft visual wit is as delightful as it is startling.

She has a unique understanding of urban culture, alienation and transcendence.

Four working class women run for Congress, overcoming adversity to battle powerful political machines in very different American landscapes.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Amy Vilela, Cori Bush and Paula Jean Swearengin. A young bartender in the Bronx, a coal miner's daughter in West Virginia, a grieving mother in Nevada, and a registered nurse in Missouri build a movement of insurgent candidates to challenge powerful incumbents in Congress.

The most shocking and amazing political race in recent American history.

Screening of the Documentary about Maya Angelou :"And Still I rise"

You are invited to the Private Dekatur Club Screening of the Documentary about Maya Angelou :"And Still I rise", Saturday May 18, 7pm ($5 Donation).

image001.png

Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Angelou is best known for her series of seven autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and early adult experiences.

The first, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969), tells of her life up to the age of 17 and brought her international recognition and acclaim. She became a poet and writer after a series of occupations as a young adult, including fry cook, nightclub dancer and performer, cast member of the opera Porgy and Bess, coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and journalist in Egypt and Ghana during the decolonization of Africa.

She was an actor, writer, director, and producer of plays, movies, and public television programs. In 1982, she earned the first lifetime Reynolds Professorship of American Studies at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She was active in the Civil Rights Movement and worked with Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.

Beginning in the 1990s, she made around 80 appearances a year on the lecture circuit, something she continued into her eighties. In 1993, Angelou recited her poem "On the Pulse of Morning" (1993) at President Bill Clinton's inauguration, making her the first poet to make an inaugural recitation since Robert Frost at President John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1961. With the publication of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Angelou publicly discussed aspects of her personal life. She was respected as a spokesperson for black people and women, and her works have been considered a defense of black culture.

Attempts have been made to ban her books from some U.S. libraries, but her works are widely used in schools and universities worldwide.

2)3)4)“Rat Race”, "Mobile World” and “Man” by Steve Cutts. He is an illustrator and animator based in London, England. His work satirises the excesses of modern society. His style is inspired by 1930s and 40s cartoons, as well as modern comic books and graphic novels.

5)- “Ceviche” by Domenica Garcia. Doménica García is an Ecuadorian video and performance artist based in New York.

She spent her early years in Mexico City and moved to New York, in order pursue her Filmmaking studies at the School of Visual Arts. Her work dives into a process of introspection, decomposing the personal and discovering the universal. With the use of an hyperbolic language and the juxtaposition of the radical and the ordinary, she gives greater relevance to the day-to day experience. Her most recent work includes: “Corazón Entristecido” a performance, video and installation presented at the Queens Art Intervention and the Queens Museum.

6)-“Cowboy Joe” by Jingjing Tian. Published in Paper: "Chinese-American filmmaker Jingjing Tian created a six-minute short film that challenges a common archetype of the ever-elusive American Dream: The western cowboy. Cowboy Joe, then, is an exploration of how that archetype remains a powerful symbol of American masculinity, adventure, and old-fashioned virtues, including hard work and rugged individualism."

7)- “Room 8” bu James W Griffiths,Winner of the BAFTA for Short Film 2014. He picked up the BAFTA for Best British Short Film for ‘ Room 8', a film co-produced by Independent Films and Gravity Road for Bombay Sapphire gin.

8)-“A house for Zaha Hadid” by Architektor 92 Veron. Zaha Hadid is my favorite architecte. Her Architectural Firm created this video.

9)-“The unequal Opportunity Race” by Erica Pinto.Short film for the African American Policy Forum, showing metaphors for obstacles to equality which affirmative action tries to alleviate. All graphics and animation by Erica Pinto

10)-“Murmurations” by Jan Van Ijken. The art of flying is a short film about “murmurations”: the mysterious flights of the Common Starling. It is still unknown how the thousands of birds are able to fly in such dense swarms without colliding. Every night the starlings gather at dusk to perform their stunning air show. Because of the relatively warm winter of 2014/2015, the starlings stayed in the Netherlands instead of migrating southwards. This gave filmmaker Jan van IJken the opportunity to film one of the most spectacular and amazing natural phenomena on earth.

11)“Family Rewritten” by Yasmin Mistry.Despite battling Cystic Fibrosis, Camilla, age 16, identifies as a typical middle-class American teenager until the thread that holds her family together suddenly snaps. Just months before her 18th birthday Camilla finds herself in foster care, but instead of being ashamed, she makes a conscious decision to not let her situation define her.

Family Rewritten is the third film in a series of documentary films Yasmin Mistry is creating which give foster youth a chance to tell their own stories. Current and former foster youth work behind the scenes on all the films in the series, which helps keep the stories authentic. Yasmin works with foster youth as a Court Appointed Special Advocate and was introduced to Camilla through the editor of Represent Magazine. Represent is a magazine which gives foster youth a chance to write and publish their stories and Camilla had just signed on to write for them. Camilla was a highschool senior at that time and wanted to major in English so it was a perfect fit for her. The artwork you see throughout the film uses type as texture. That type is combination of Camilla's writing and poetry about her personal  journey, as well as the poetry of another foster youth named Princess who also wrote about her experiences in foster care.

Angel Talk “Origins - The Angels and Us” by the Healing Facilitor Brian Porzak

You are invited to our Angel Talk “Origins - The Angels and Us”

by the Healing Facilitor Brian Porzak , Saturday March 23, 7pm at your Private Dekatur Club (Donation $5).

Brian Porzak is a healing facilitator and mystic, who started out as a filmmaker, when he received a Senior Fellowship, while a student at Dartmouth College.

It was in a meeting with one of his Blue Chip clients in Minneapolis that Brian heard about Past Life Regression and decided to check it out.

That was a life-changer.

Flying back to New York, then driving to a Boston suburb, the practitioner he met said she no longer worked in that area, but didn’t need to teach him because he already knew how to do it…an ability she awakened within him in literally 5 minutes.

Being head of the offices in the major cities around the Country, Brian was able to do regressions with clients, friends and family nationwide for a few years.

This enabled Brian to travel and spend the past 20 years studying with shamans, mystics and healers in North, Central and South America, Western Europe and the UK in order to develop his skills in many modalities, including Entity and Spell/Curse Removal and Angel Channeling.

Today, his Total Renewal practice helps his clients transform negative emotions into positive strengths, so they can become empowered and realize their life goals.

Brian is an initiate into the Tao and an Adept in the 7th Ray Mystery School sourced from Tibet, as well.

Private Screening Party of the Amazing Movie "Eat , Drink, Man, Woman" directed by Ang Lee, Saturday January 19, 7pm of Dekatur Club

In her review in The New York Times, Janet Maslin praised Ang Lee as "a warmly engaging storyteller". She wrote, "Wonderfully seductive, and nicely knowing about all of its characters' appetites, Eat Drink Man Woman makes for an uncomplicatedly pleasant experience".
This Taiwanese film received the Asia Pacific Film Festival Award for Best Film, and it received an Academy Award Nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

PastedGraphic-8.JPG

The title is a quote from the Book of Rites, one of the Confucian classics, referring to the basic human desires and accepting them as natural. The beginning of the quote reads as follows: “The things which men greatly desire are comprehended in meat and drink and sexual pleasure.

Master Chef Chu (Sihung Lung) is semi-retired and lives at home with his three unmarried daughters, Jia-Jen (Kuei-Mei Yang), a religious chemistry teacher; Jia-Chien (Chien-Lien Wu), an airline executive; and Jia-Ning (Yu-wen Wang), an employee at a fast-food joint.
Life at the family's house revolves heavily around preparing and eating an elaborate dinner every Sunday. The stability of these meals gives them all strength as they deal with new romantic relationships and disappointments.

Screening of the documentary “Beltracchi: The Art of Forgery” by Arne Birkenstock

You are invited to the Private Dekatur Club Saturday November 10, 7pm for the Screening of the documentary “Beltracchi: The Art of Forgery” by Arne Birkenstock  (Donation $5)

Official Documentary trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS6a3XochQU

This mesmerizing, thought-provoking, and amusing documentary focuses on the life and times of Wolfgang Beltracchi and his wife Helene, who for nearly four decades, fooled the international art world and were responsible for the biggest art forgery scandal of the postwar era.

An expert in art history, theory and painting techniques, Beltracchi created original works in the style of such masters as Max Ernst, Heinrich Campendonk, and Max Pechstein, to not only fill in the gaps in the oeuvres of these great artists, but the gaps within the art market itself.

Curators and art dealers alike were fooled by these “lost masterpieces” until a simple mistake led to the Beltracchis’ arrest and the exposure of his forgeries.

As Beltracchi and his wife recount their extraordinary story with humor and candor, some profound questions arise:

What makes a piece of art an original? And what makes a person an expert?

Lecture "The Trouble with Sex” by Dr Deborah Berry and the "99c Dream" Performance by Virginie Sommet

"The Trouble with Sex."

Throughout the world and in all of history we humans have considerable trouble with sex. From rape and sexual slavery through to internet porn ‘addiction’ and the young adult ‘hook up culture’ the destructive aspects of sex have a few common roots in the qualities of lust and how it effects us. Sex, love and lust are inherently conflicted, not only in our experience but also most probably in our biology.

What is lust? How is desire formed? Why are men so often dominant and why do they objectify women? Why is power an aphrodisiac? Why do women sometimes objectify themselves and find power and pleasure in being the object of desire? Why are domination, and objectification sometimes sexy?

Sex is a powerful drive that can alter judgment and personality. Power, domination and subordination are aphrodisiacs, and moments of objectification, and even self-objectification are often essential for the pleasure of lust. These experiences are not in need of a cure, they need more honest understanding and responsible appraisal. Sexual arousal emanates largely from the more primitive parts of our brain. Lust has qualities that are inherently problematic, and lust and love often collide. Lust arises partially from the more primitive brain regions, and Love emanates from the brain system that evolved with mammals, the limbic system.

Virginie Sommet.

She has been active in the New York City art scene for the past 16 years. She is a conceptual artist with strong Pop underpinning.  Her focus has been on creating sculptures, installations/collages from familiar objects in our culture that reflect a wide range of uncertainties regarding social issues.  Sommet is driven to visually tackle challenging topics that examine societal constraints.  The attention is on matters that separate individuals related to gender and various urban subculture issues. She is vigilant and dedicated in spreading awareness of this topic to mainstream viewers.

Virginie completed her BFA and MFA in Conceptual Art at University Paris VIII in 1997.  This University is rooted in activism, and was also where Michel Foucault taught and headed the Philosophy Department. In 1998, this artist left Paris and moved to New York, where she primarily exhibits her work to this day.

Sommet was organizing Art Salons in her Chinatown studio and created an Art Collective of 13 artists. The exhibitions of the collective were usually once a month.  In addition to being the curator at the Art Salon and collective exhibitions, Sommet participated in numerous international art fairs, solo and group shows. Including her last group show with Andy Warhol works, Takashi Murakami and many others at the Kate Shin Gallery in 2014.

She also wrote and published a book called “Only in New York, Darling!” written in French and English.  The book is about creative underground life in New York City. It was very well received by international press.

Sommet’s creativity and ability to take risks have enabled her Art Salons and exhibitions to flourish. She has been successful in providing visibility for her and invited artists’ work. Although, Sommet is managing a dual role as an artist and curator, she is committed to creating art that is sociologically and aesthetically provocative.

In addition to her various exhibitions and Art Salons, her work is in private collections of President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Susan Sarandon,Terry Georges, Daniel Py and Anderson Cooper.

Private screening “Who are you, Polly Maggoo?” Directed by William Klein.

“Who are you, Polly Maggoo?”Directed by William Klein.

Satire of the fashion industry, Polly Maggoo is a 20-year-old Brooklyn-born fashion model in Paris in the 1960’s, on the runway at the big shows where magazine editor Ms. Maxwell is the reigning opinion maker.

PastedGraphic-1.jpg

After nearly a decade as American Vogue's most subversive

fashion photographer, William Klein made this wild, pseudo vérité incursion into the world of Parisian haute couture. Elegant, scathing humor ties together the various strands of this alternately glamorous and grotesque portrait of American in Paris Polly Maggoo (Dorothy Mac Gowan), an Alice in Wonderland supermodel who becomes the pinup plaything of media hounds and the fragmented fantasy of haunted Prince Igor (Sami Frey). William Klein's first fiction film is a daring deflation of cultural pretensions and institutions, dressed up in brilliant black and white.

Private Documentary Screening: “Water, The Great Mystery” directed by Anastaysia Popova.

You are invited to the Dekatur Club, Saturday May 19 at 7pm

($5 Donation) to a Private Documentary Screening:

“ Water, The Great Mystery ” directed by Anastaysia Popova.

Water_(2006_film).jpg

Water is the most amazing yet least studied substance. From times immemorial, scientists, philosophers and theologians tried to understand its explicit and implicit properties, which are phenomenal, beyond the common physical laws of nature. Witness recent, breathtaking discoveries by researchers worldwide from Russia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Israel, the USA, Britain, Austria, Japan, Argentina, China and Tibet. The arguments expound upon unexpected and challenging assumptions enlightening many years of research to open humankind to new horizons, such as the applications of structured water in agriculture, or the use of water in treatment for the most serious diseases and more. The Geography of the film spans the globe. The implications go beyond the solar system, suggesting that water has the ability to convey messages faster than light, perhaps linking water with the absolute. Water is so unique, and so profound, its miraculous properties are still awaiting to be discovered.

Masaru Emoto’ s book.

In the film, scientists from various countries (including Kurt WüthrichMasaru EmotoRustum Roy, and Konstantin Korotkov) present their work on the theme of the water. Additionally, clergy from the largest religious (including Metropolit of Smolensk KirillShamil Alyautdinov, and Pinchas Polonsky) discuss the importance of the water in their faith. The film also presents experiences of water, including the emotions of humans interacting with the water

The film won three television awards at TEFI, including for the best documentary film.

DEKATUR CLUB FILM FESTIVAL!

You are invited to “ Dekatur Club Short Film Festival ” Saturday April 21, 7pm ($5 Donation).

DEKATUR CLUB

FILM FESTIVAL!

PastedGraphic-4.jpg

List of Short Films and documentaries (under 8 minutes):

-"Between Something and Nothing” by Cor.Ece Smith.

- "Her morning Elegance” by Oren Lavie.

- "Dressed” by Sydney O’Haire.

- "A Subtlety,or the Marvelous Sugar Baby” by Kara Walker.

- "Ghost Bikes” by Ethan Brooks.

-  "Who is your Daddy” by NewYorker.

- Trailer "Brooklyn Farmer” by Michael Tyburski.

- "Refuge of hope” by Yasmin Mistry.

-"BETWEEN SOMETHING AND NOTHING" is s a visual tug-of-war on intimacy versus solitude, brotherhood versus romance, joy versus contentment, and something versus nothing. What is the something? What is the nothing? I’d like the audience to respond to those questions more than anything else. Consider the invisible trauma held for being black and queer. We’re told that it’s impossible to love each other and ourselves if we deviate from the status quo of the hegemonic guise of masculinity. Yet and still we do it anyway because it’s just not true. It also pays homage to our blackness then and now. Its shot in black and white images to wash away everything other than the focal points.”BETWEEN SOMETHING AND NOTHING (BSAN), is a short visual art piece that features the cinematic direction and music by artist, and hopeful-electro-soul singer COR.ECE. It is a story consisting of 2 parts: “Console My Soul (Part 1)” and “Down on My Luck (Part 2),” boldly using a unique filmic language and soundscapes to tell a story that takes viewers on a journey that travels through grief, love, intimacy, security and vulnerability.Cor.Ece is a multi-media artist and singer-songwriter who blurs the lines of how performance art and modern soul music are conceptualized. Hailing from St. Louis and now based in Brooklyn, Cor.Ece's musical sound is a blend of wide-eyed hope and wistful contemplations of time. The characters, played by Cuban artist Carlos Martiel, Jarrett Key, Codify Art, and COR.ECE, use the spaces they occupy to stand firmly in the nuances of race and sexual identity. The conflict lies within the personal journey of trying to unearth the beauty of safety and conflict, beginnings and endings when societal messages say otherwise.

- "Her morning Elegance”, by Oren Lavie is an Israeli songwriterauthortheatre and video director. His music video for "Her Morning Elegance" earned a 2009 Grammy Award nomination for "Best Short Form Music Video" and has become a YouTube hit with over 32 million views to date.

 “Dressed” by Sydney O’Haire.

Born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida, Sydney O’Haire is a third year MFA Directing candidate at the School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University. Originally wanting to become a lawyer or politician, Sydney decided to cast that world aside, pursue a career in cinema, and never look back. When she isn't directing or producing, Sydney crews as a script supervisor, camera operator, documentary cinematographer, or camera assistant. Last summer, she spent a week in Nigeria filming a short documentary, Robo Queens, about the Women's National Soccer League and empowering young women through soccer and education. Currently she is in post-production for a short film she wrote and directed, Pointe Work, and is in pre-production for her next short film, Being Here, which she hopes will one day become a feature-length film. She ultimately wants to pursue a career in directing and screenwriting, while still making time to explore the outdoors.

- “A Subtlety,or the Marvelous Sugar Baby” by Kara Walker

Sugar Factory in Brooklyn, NY. Seated in her Manhattan studio, Walker explains how the molasses-covered space, along with her extensive research into the history of sugar, inspired her to create a colossal sugar-coated sphinx, as well as a series of life-sized, sugar and resin boy figurines. A team of artists and fabricators are shown constructing and coating the sphinx, which, as Walker says, gains its power by "upsetting expectations, one after the other." Commissioned by Creative Time, "A Subtlety, or the Marvelous Sugar Baby" is the first large-scale public project by Walker who is best known for her cut paper silhouette installations, drawings, and watercolors. "A Subtlety, or the Marvelous Sugar Baby" was on view until July 6, 2014. Thereafter, the factory is scheduled to be demolished to make way for condominiums.

Kara Walker explores the raw intersection of race, gender, and sexuality in her work, crafting vivid psychological narratives from a contemporary perspective on historical conditions. Over the past two decades, Walker has unleashed the traditionally Victorian medium of the silhouette onto the walls of the gallery, creating immersive installations that envelop the viewer. Walker's multi-media work—which includes drawing, watercolor, video, and sculpture—often reconsider grotesque caricatures, probing their persistence in popular culture and reclaiming their subjugating power to alternative ends.

-  “Ghost Bikes” by Ethan Brooks. There are over 150 white-painted bicycles chained up throughout New York City. Each bike represents a cyclist killed in traffic - each is placed at the scene of the crash.

Mirza puts up the bikes. He remembers these fallen cyclists when everyone else seems to have forgotten them.

- "Who is your Daddy” by NewYorker. Meet the proud father of the Times Square fixture the naked Cowboy.

- Trailer "Brooklyn Farmer”. Explores the unique challenges facing Brooklyn Grange, a group of urban farmers who endeavor to run a commercially viable farm across the rooftops of NewYork City.As their growing operation expands to a second roof, the teamconfronts the realities inherent in operating the world’s largest rooftop farm in one of the world’s biggest cities.

- ”Refuge of hope” by Yasmin Mistry

Yasmin Mistry is an Emmy-nominated animator and filmmaker. Her work has been displayed worldwide including recent showings at the White House and United Nations as well as at film festivals such as Cannes, SXSW, Tribeca and Clermont-Ferrand. She is the recipient of the Puffin Foundation’s 2013 film grant, the Brooklyn Arts Council’s 2014 – 2017 film grants, and the winner of the Jessie Streich-Kest Memorial Grant.Yasmin is also the founder of the Foster Care Film & Community Engagement Project, which uses film and animation to give youth in foster care a platform through which to be heard. Her first two documentary short films in the series, “Feeling Wanted” and “My Identity” played at over 30 film festivals each. The films have received over 20 awards and recognitions combined, including a nomination for best short film of 2015 by Adoption at The Movies. In the wake of the 2016 U.S. presidential election a few filmmakers got together to create a series called America Heard. This series was founded by filmmakers who wanted a platform where many diverse stories of Americans across the country, and abroad, could be shared. In particular, they wanted to inspire conversations surrounding topics that are not being told or are not fairly covered by skewed media outlets.Upon learning of this project, and their need for local filmmakers from all 435 congressional districts across America, I decided I wanted to share a story from my hometown of Syracuse, NY. Knowing that Syracuse is home to over 10,000 former refugees, and that their perspective often gets misconstrued or lost, I felt that this was an ideal platform through which I could give members of this community a voice.

Lucio Reis:

Resized Image-1517354168883.jpeg

Born in the Brazilian Amazon city Belém, Lúcio lived in California for 1 year when he was 15, and 9 years in Portugal until he was 25.

During his last 3 months in Portugal, he and a friend witnessed a huge light in the sky, 3 nights in a row.

The light was as big as the Moon.

After that, his extra-sensory abilities opened in a way that  became hard for him to handle so he decided to move back to Brazil to reset.

He started finding many people and groups that began to teach him about his abilities, also how and why he was beginning to access new realities.

His journey let him to finding Dakila in 2012, a research group association created 21 years ago by Urandir Fernandes de Oliveira, whose initials form the word UFO.

Now, aware of what he calls his mission, Lúcio is transmitting the research he has participated in and is here to explain how it can have an impact on everybody's life.

Lúcio is inspired by art, science, spirituality and paranormality.

Daniel Duron:

Resized Image-1517504334432.jpeg

Since his born day of March 25th 1980 in San Diego CA, Daniel has witnessed hundreds of paranormal events and other worldly anomalies.

From being engulfed in strange bright lights, to being taken on board space crafts, he has been shaped to be a seeker and seer of the truth.

Daniel has studied in the mestizo tradition and worked with many master teacher plants in the upper Amazon river basin over the last four years.

He’s also approaching an initiation into a Nahuatl (Nahua) Healing lineage from the central part of Mexico,

in which he’ll be specifically working with the weather, as he’s been struck by lightning, twice.

After a sequence of serendipitous signals and guidance, he traveled to Mato Grosso State

this last November and discovered Dakila, in the Brazilian highlands.

Dakila has been in contact with the 49 races of the Intergalactic Confederation of Light for the last 21 years.

Daniel is a Dakila research associate and participant.

He holds and transmits a wisdom and support frequency and he’s remembering what his mission is here on Earth.

"Sacred Science" Official trailer:

http://www.thesacredscience.com/film/

The medicines would not come to us, so we decided to bring eight people with eight different

illnesses deep into the Amazon Rainforest to work with indigenous healers for 30 days.

Once we put the world out to the public, we quickly had over 400 applications from people

around the world, each desperate to find an answer to their illness.

The patients we chose were suffering from the following illnesses: Parkinson’s disease, breasts cancer,

Crohn’s Disease, diabetes,depression, prostate cancer,Neuroendocrine cancer,IBS,and more.

Our mission is to bring this ancient healing knowledge to the people who need it most-while at the same time,

honoring the indigenous communities that still hold this sacred healing wisdom.

The religion of the world where this medicine still exists are being destroyed at an

alarming pace and these tribes need all the support they can get.

"Sensual Thinking" Lecture of the writer Jane Bernard

You are invited to Dekatur Club, Saturday January 13 at 7pm ($5 Donation) to the “Sensual Thinking” Lecture of the writer and philosopher Jane Bernard based on her last two books: -"Lucid Living in the Virtual age” and "Fine -Tunning your sensual thinking”.

PastedGraphic-2.jpg

"Think with your senses, feel with your mind.”Jane Bernard.

Jane Bernard

Sensual thinking is thought evolution. Sensuality is the personal route to creativity, healthy eating and getting rid of stress.

I'll share and answer questions about practical ways to benefit from sensual thinking.Jane Bernard is a visionary and a teacher. She is passionate about the role of Sensual Thinking to facilitate enduring positive change in our world. Logical and original, Jane has been called inspiring and provocative. Through her eyes, we see ourselves differently. Having degrees in Philosophy (The New School) and Special Education (Bank Street College), combined with three decades of Rinzai Zen practice, and the “everyman college of living”, all contribute to her thinking. Jane is a writer and the author of 4 books about intuitive thinking. She has been on TV & international radio, talking from the intuitive perspective. Jane introduced her first book, Fine Tuning, on The Montel Williams Show, in 2006. Her easy-going combination of common sense and originality is a natural eye-opener. She is currently creating an original Peace Education curriculum based on intuitive thinking for a school in Brooklyn. A recently published article written by Jane Bernard is called: Key to Happiness: Think with Your Senses, Feel with Your Mind.

She has also spoken with UN groups about her philosophy as an agenda for peace.

Virginie Sommet’s biography:

Virginie Sommet is an artist from Normandy, France.

This school is rooted in activism, and was also where Michel Foucault taught and headed the Philosophy Department. In 1998, this artist left Paris and moved to New York, where she primarily exhibits her work to this day.

Sommet was organizing Art Salons in her Chinatown studio and created a collective of 13 artists.

Sommet was commissioned to create trophies by the board of Action Against Hunger for 2004 until 2008 for the annual World Food Day Gala.  This event “recognizes individuals who have made major contributions in the fight against hunger”.  Besides her high profile collectors, her work continues to be supported by Eyal Levy, Dr. Marvin Rotman of New York and Yolanda Torres Torres of Barcelona, and many others.
